The Next Great American Band (tv show)

Is anyone watching this? Same type of silly American Idol format, but I like some of these bands. Good variety of styles and some excellent guitar playing. Check out The Muggs on youtube -- this guy is a serious guitar player!

That show has more threads than viewers.

The Muggs are on that show??? Holy shit! They're a great band, and I've even seen Danny, their guitar player, playing live with two of his other bands, The Paybacks, and The Hentchmen. He's absolutely fantastic!

Since everyone ingnored the thread I started, I will add to this one

As much as I like the Clark Brothers, I don't think they will last...same with Chris Wagner and the Old No 7.

For 12 year old kids, the Light of Doom is pretty good. But last night was not as good as when they NAILED the Iron Maiden tune on the audition show.

Dot Dot Dot is a conglamerate of of two pretty big cover bands from my neck of the woods and I have seen them in their old bands several times. It just seems like they are trying WAY too hard and they are borderline irritating.

The Hatch sucks

Likes of You has potential in a gay Matchbox 20 sort of way.

Rocket is OK for a girl punk band but nothing special.

The Muggs are balls out Rock n Roll...who doesn't like that ?

6wire - very poished very Nashville but very good

Franklin Bridge....these guys can fucking play !

Am I a geek for being into show ? Pehaps

Sorry I missed your thread! Call me a geek too, but I will be watching this show. Clark Brothers may attract enough female votes to last awhile, but I agree Chris Wagner and Old No. 7 may have trouble with mainstream America even if they are awesome musicians. Pretty much agree with the rest of your thoughts on this. Thought is was funny when they told Lights of Doom to put their shirts on!

No, but I think it's doing poorly in the ratings because of a bad time slot. That's what my wise crack before was about.

About 90 degrees of separation there, but what the heck, if #7 gets dumped, they can always go out on tour together.

Did you see tonight's show? Chris Wagner and the Old#7 were awesome. I hope they put out a cd. Clark Bros. were also very good. Muggs guitarist is insanely good, but judges are right that he can't sing -- he should listen and add a singer to the band. Didn't think much of anyone else. Little bit boring.

That's why he found one for his little bit more well known band, The Paybacks

I watched a bit of this show last night, and I was stunned. Those bands didn't suck! Some of it wasn't to my taste, but they played pretty good. I only saw the first hour, so I didn't get to see all the bands, but what I saw surprised me a lot. With the American Idol tie-in, I just assumed it would be all scantily clad women and hip hoppers. I had no idea they were going to have actual bands!
