RIP Ben Keith

This has been a bad year in the Neil Young camp!

He'll definitely been missed.

Man, that sure is a shame. The guy was as legendary as some of the more illustrious names he played with.

Sad!! Saw him with Neil three times in the last couple of years - great that he was still rocking out in his 70s.

But who else from Neil's entouage died this year?

Larry was one of Neils closest friends of the whole bunch.Maybe this will ignite another malestrom of creativity as Neil looks back on his life and music from a much different perspective.I have a felling the new record with Lanois is going to reflect on this to a degree.

Not that I want any of Neil's pals to die, but hopefully these deaths will inspire a better album than his electric car did for the last record...

Last night in Minneapolis, Neil dedicated "Old Man" to Ben Keith.

One of the new songs he played, "You Never Call", is about the death
of LA Johnson.

A lot of the new material sounded very promising. "Peaceful Valley" is
probably my favorite of the bunch.

"Hitchhiker" (fierce electric version on Old Black of this unreleased fan favorite rumored to be on the new album), "Ohio" (on the Gretsch White Falcon! F**K YEAH!), and an amazing "Cortez The Killer" (on Old Black) were worth the price of admission alone.
