Heads up for NYC fans, the mighty Mother Hips are playing at the Bowery Ballroom the same night as Gary's solo show. According to the websites, Gary should be on by 7:30 or 8, and the Mother Hips likely won't start their set across town until 10, so I plan on enjoying an awesome double-header that night.

Stripped-down classics courtesy of Gary for the main course, full-on rock with the Hips for dessert. Life is too god.

Just went to Gary's web page and discovered that the message board has been taken off. All 12 of us member over there won't have to worry about posting in both places anymore :-).

Whoa!!! I guess he figured that since a lot more people post here, it's better to just 86 the other board.

Was planning to go over to Wabasha this weekend to scope out where any sort of a meet-up could take place for some grub before the Gary Shandling show;
My car is being repaired, prolly won't get it back until next week.
I will probably have to go next weekend depending how long it takes to get my wheels back. This has sort of snuck up on me with school semester ending and such...

As per JoMama's pix, Wabasha venue looks to be about 11 rows deep on incline; about 30 seats across, looks to be straight rows across without much curvature; definitely an intimate setting; likely not a bad seat in the house.

the sponsors have also emailed this to those who have already purchased tickets for a special rate at AmericInn. Mention the show for the discount, just passing this along:

We have just struck a deal with the AmericInn of Wabasha. They will offer all Moonshine Showcase concert goers discount rates on rooms.

UPGRADE TO A WHIRLPOOL/FIREPLACE THEME SUITE FOR ONLY $25.00 MORE

$100 to stay in "lovely downtown Wabasha" at the 2 1/2 star local chain hotel? I think I'll pass on that one!

Here we're talking about the ridiculousness of spending over $100 on a concert ticket in another thread, and people don't bat an eye at spending over $100 to rent a room to sleep in for 8-10 hours? Color me confused.

I live about an hour away from Wabasha, otherwise I'd gladly offer my couches and/or air mattress to any out of towners for the night for the price of conversation. Hell, I'd even cook breakfast for you.

I love the "much more" on the breakfast enticement.

How about camping? If I were to visit (and I have many times) to see this show, I'd find myself a nice place by some sort of water. Isn't the weather nice there right now?

Nights are still relatively cool, but certainly bearable for tenting it, and I'm certain there are places around to do so, being the big river is touristy.
I know there's Frontenac State Park about 20 miles north, but there's likely something right near Wabasha as well. I bet if you ask the moonshineshowcase.com fella he'll let you know.
