Two tickets in the bank already, and plans for a leisurely drive along the National Scenic Riverway featuring a classy picnic along the bluffs. Bring your cameras, everyone, for the vistas!

The theater is actually the auditorium of the former Wabasha middle school. I haven't been to a concert there, but I do know for a fact that the last showcase sold out. So you probably shouldn't wait until May to order your tickets...

I know of an excellent picnic spot on YOUR side of the river; send me an
email if you want the info...

Thanks, Zombie, but I'm intimately familiar with my side of the river, and I've got a few places in mind. We'll play it by ear on the way down nonetheless--you know I'm a fan of spontaneity. Some would call it lack of planning...

Hey, if you don't plan then you can't fuck it up, that's what I say. Well, me and Spike Milligan, who I stole that from.

I just bought two tix for the Wabasha show. What I like is that there's no having to drive around downtown Mpls. or Chicago to see this show (neither of which is a stressless situation). What is really convincing me that I must go, is that Mississippi River drive....bald eagle watching! Now ya'll know the lil park ranger here. Scott will be stoked up about that part of it when I tell him. I hope he can go with me and won't be traveling for work then....if not, no biggie since I don't have to fight any traffic ( I'd rather he drive through that)

When I bought the tix, I was informed that my credit card bill will be billed as "Moonshine". Ok, so if that's not a sign that I should go, then I don't know what else is

My only concern is (and this won't stop me from going)...if it's in a converted middle school auditorium like CZ said....the acoustics may be horrible. Has anyone been there for a show before? We saw Blues Traveler in a place exactly like that. You could barely understand the vocals because the venue echo was as heavy as lead.

It'll be great to get away....been working my ass off....ready for a break

Get there early, sit up close, before the echo chamber effect sets in.
I'm thinking about what you said about seeing Blues Traveler and the comparison would be a band versus a solo artist, so methinks it'll prolly be awright.
We could always bring blankets and throw them over the rafters to dampen things a wee bit...

Well, yes....and this was a sit down venue...Stephen's Auditorium in Ames. We didn't get to choose where to be, and this is general admission. The front should be ok for sound.

Kristi, it'd be so less stressful for you to drive to the Mn. venue than to the Chi one. It'd also be closer for you, coming from Des Moines. Not to mention, it's a Sat. night and the Chi one is on Thurs.

About distance, it's funny. Yahoo maps says that from my house it is:

3 hours 56 mins to the Mn. venue

4 hours 10 mins to the Chi-town venue

a difference of 14 minutes.
HAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeeeeaaaaahhhh......wrong. Yahoo maps never adds the 2 hours minimum of downtown traffic time. I've been stuck in that shit many a time.

Mile wise, the distance is very similar, but time wise, there is a huge difference.

Miles wise it may look similar, but coming up from Ames you'll be here in no time: Straight up I-35 to Albert Lea, then I-90 across to Rochester, Hwy 63 to the river. No downtown traffic anywhere unless you drive through Rochester. But on a Saturday afternoon? Fuhgettabouddit
