Jason Isbell

Saw Jason Isbell last night at the Slaughtered Lamb (London) with Chaosdan...

There can't have been more than 150 folk in the room, if that... Man, that guy can play.

He played a whole bunch of his latest album... And a couple from his previous albums... Plus a bunch of Drive-By Truckers songs (Danko/Manuel (for Levon), Decoration Day, Never Gonna Change, Goddamn Lonely Love, Outfit, TVA)... and a superb cover of Dylan's Man In Me... all in all he played for about an hour and half / 1 hr 45, I guess.

Incredible... & highly recommended if he plays a venue near you.

I've seen him once and I ended up talking to the band in their little back stage area and apologising for the crowd, sparse as it was. Jason said "well, you were here weren't you?" and then Derry piped up "yeah, fuck those other no taste assholes!".

Hehe...well pleased with that. He's always a super gig to get to if ya can.

He got so sleepy-sounding after the Truckers. Much of it seems MOR.
