Top 5 so far?

I know we are barely 4 months into the New Year but I was wondering about people's top 5 albums of the year so far....or even ones you bought this year from last year or before.

So on that note:

Low-The Great Destroyer
Josh Rouse-Nashville
Damien Jurado-On My Way To Absence
The Arcade Fire-Funeral(only issued over this side this year)
The National-Alligator
Kathleen Edwards-Back To Me
Teenage Fanclub-Man Made

With hopefully albums from Eels,Bruce Springsteen,Richmond Fontaine,Ryan Adams,Son Volt,Portishead,Sigur Ros,Audioslave and Weezer among others to arrive in my hands soon....looking good for the year.

I know I said 5 and there is 7......

Top 5... something like...

Brendan Benson - The Alternative To Love
Josh Rouse - Nashville
Rilo Kiley - More Adventrous
Arcade Fire - Funeral (seeing 'em in a couple of weeks)
Bright Eyes – I'm Wide Awake It's Morning

all good, although I'm yet to hear something that screams 'classic'...

There are a few of the best of 2005 so far. Hopefully the new Grandaddy and Sparklehorse records will be worthy.

The only "new" stuff I have bought this year isn't really "new" but is worth mentioning ( they are new to me )

Shins-Chutes too Narrow
Shins-Oh, inverted world
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute ( very strange but oddly interesting )
Elliott Smith - From a Basement on a Hill
Kings of Leon- Aha Shake Heartbreak

Top Five?! Sheesh! I'll vote for the only one I've bought - Kathleen Edwards. I'm too broke to play in this neighborhood...

Not everything I've bought this year has been a new release, either. But here they are anyhow...

Maria McKee - Peddlin' Dreams

Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake It's Morning

Steve Earle - Transcendental Blues
Steve Earle - The Revolution Starts Now
Just getting into Steve recently and I must say he is truly great!

Tift Merritt - Tambourine
Wanted to get this one for a while and I'm glad I finally did!

And then I bought a replacement copy of The Replacements - Tim.
I had been wanting to listen to it and God only knows what happened to my original copy...

My list so far:

Tift Merritt ~ Tambourine...boy she has one hell of a voice!
Elliott Smith ~ From a Basement on a Hill...a sorely missed musician. Hearing "Fond farewell to a friend" just brings me to tears.
Garbage ~ Bleed Like Me (this one I got the Hubby when it came out a few weeks ago) I love the tune "Run baby Run." I cranked that song up in the car when I went to one of my classes last week. I know Mystic Spiral will be at the Garbage show at First Ave on Friday. I wanted to go with the hubby, but he said he does not want to go to anymore shows (that is unless I drag him...and he is the Garbage fan!!! Go figure!)

Garbage show on Friday, eh? I would like to see that myself. They are one of those bands I really liked back in my late teens/early 20's, but now I forget they exist until I hear them mentioned (like your post).

As for my top five this year; I don't have any! I've only bought one CD this whole year (bad year $$-wise for me, personally) and it was Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion's Exploration, which I believe came out March '05.

Later

I left Ray Lamontagne and Elliott Smith off because they were last year...

Is this a Best of 2005 so far, or something else?
