Save it for a Rainy Day

Pretty little hairdo, don't do what it used to
Can't disguise the livin all the trials you've been through
Looking like a train wreck, Wearing too much makeup
Burdon that you carry, is more than any soul can bare

So Sad...
Don't look so sad Juanita
There's another part to play
So Sad..
Don't look so sad Juanita
Save it for a rainy day

You'll never make your mind up, Like driving with your eyes shut
Rough around the edges, Won't someone come and take you home
Waiting for a breakthrough, What will you set your mind to
Stood outside the Chinese restruant in the rain

Chours x2

Save it for a rainy day (repeats)

I think it is Marina, too, but for awhile there I thought it was Roweena.

does anyone else hear...

"can't disguise the living, all the MILES that you've been through"

??

This is not a critique, by the way. Like the other posters, I'm glad you took the effort to do what many of us have meant to get around to, which is puzzle out these lyrics. We'll know for sure once the album finally comes out, but in the meantime, several heads are better than one.

Gotta say I'm in the "Marina" crowd, too. (Pretty name!)

Also, "miles" sounds correct too; likewise, last line before chorus is "more than one soul could ever bear..."

Well, that's how it sounds on my three boots, at least, but these are minor corrections. Who knows what nuances'll be added/deleted from the recorded version.

NOW: Who can figure out the chords for these new tunes??? I'm checking altcountrytab.com all the time, but until the album's out, I doubt if we'll see anybody do 'em up right.

(I can play, but I'm awful at figuring out chords...)

Three more shows next week and then four with the Jayhawks to round out the year. And what a way to round out the year, eh!

okay - i am listening to Seattle 4/22/02, and now, after pressing my ear to the speaker, and backtracking a couple times, i agree with "Marina" - isn't the song called "Pretty Little Hairdo", though?

Well, I am virtually sitting on nails until the new CD comes out...hopefully the lyrics will be printed...think I hear Marina too, altho, ya know, didn't stop to think that I coulda just watched Gary's lips that night in Ames to try and figure it out. With that only 12 inch off the ground stage, and bein' in the front row directly in front of him, my eyes were only approx. 5 feet away from his lips....
