Thumbs up Gary's voice + painful sentiment = money

Just stuck "Angelyne" on repeat for a few times and am still struck at how great it gets towards the end. When all the background drops out, and it's just Gary singing along to the guitar "Don't you tell me..." and then finally "Angelyne, forgive me, we threw it all away..."

The sadness, the desperation, I'm sorry it just sends chills. Can't go wrong with emotional devastation I always say.

for other references see "baby, baby, baby" re: 'I've been so faithful.. I've been so true...'

or "Stick in the Mud" re: 'You got me down on my knees, begging you please don't leave...'

So true. Another heavy hitter is in Two Hearts:

'Well, the love you need
I don't expect you to let me see...'

I swear that on one live show I have, his voice actually catches, like there's a chance it might break -- real emotion...

Guy's in class by himself...

Yep.

I can feel his emotion in "All The Right Reasons", a song that is becoming my favourite Jayhawks tune.
