The day has finally arrived!

I sat through the delays and held off the temptation to import the European version and now today is the payoff! I'm going to pick it up today at lunch at my local record store (Easy Street) and sit down tonight with the album and a few coldies. Maybe a vodka or two. And soak it all in (the music and alcohol).

The next thing to wait for is some west coast dates....

I've had the European release for about 5 weeks now, but downloaded the bonus songs Precious Time and Cotton Dress, this morning. Those are great additions to the whole CD. For everyone that is first getting it today, set aside some quiet time to listen. Let it soak in.

I am picking up a copy on the way home for my girlfriend. If my copy isn't waiting for me in the mail, I may do a swapparoo and give her the shipped copy.

Very very early review, only 6 tracks into the cd, I like it......I'll really focus on the individual songs after the first listen. It has a nice flow so far, like when you go a place you are familiar with, but something is different, you know where you are, but some things are a little new, and other things are like a comfy pair of slippers.........I will be listening more..........

Can't wait to pick up a copy tonight after work!

Until then, I'm listening to a stream of the album here:

Fortunately, my local record store got it in on Friday and I was able to give it a few listens over the weekend, and while I was impressed with a majority of the album after hearing it for the first time, I must say that I enjoy Ready For The Flood even more with each listen. I seem to find a little something different that I like each time I play it. I love albums like that. Mark and Gary once again prove why they were meant to sing together. They sing with such heartbreak and emotion, and just enough optimism to remind their listeners, in various ways, what is truly important in life. And props to Chris Robinson for his production and his contributions to Ready For The Flood. I must admit I'm a little biased considering The Black Crowes are my favorite band but the guy has a knowledge of music that allows him the confidence of what he wants in an album. Such a great album overall and I'm glad to see Mark and Gary once again playing music together. I'm definitely looking forward to the Park West show in Chicago.

Aside from the 4-track early-release EP I haven't heard a darned thing from it. I was detemined to wait until 'D-Day' and am giving it the first run through now. I am glad I waited - this has recaptured a ton of feelings of the anticipation of a long-awaited LP release from days of yore. Giddy like a schoolgirl, so I am.

Yeah, D-Day, whatever, you're from Europe and it came out there back in November, while me, a Yank, couldn't wait.
Interesting, that...

One post suggested there's new discovery with each listen. I still feel something very 'new' about this album after having it nearly 2 months already, so imagine my excitement for those of you just starting today...

I'm also happy to be reminded how these fellas are above all the reviews such that the negative ones amuse them. They amuse me too when I like something a whole bunch and someone else talks about it almost as if its painful to hear...

My personal health has sucked today, but just hearing all the cheers here is better than anything I can take from a bottle for the pain...

The two bonus tracks add quite a lot to the album. There are some subtle things on this record that you really don't catch right away, like the beautiful guitar fills throughout.

DENIED!!! They were already sold out. Said I didn't stand a chance. They still had vinyl, but I don't have a record player in my car.

Sigh....
