"Someone Will"

Does anyone know if the band ever played this version of "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" live?

Yep, lots of times from 1998 on I think. Check out the tour section on the fanpage with lots of setlists.

It's interesting to see how a song needs to grow; you can find songs with complete different lyrics.

Like Baby, Baby, Baby which in the orginal version is not about Gary car crash (I think the album version is about that) at all.

But about lost love--what else!

yeah all through the '98 tour it was a new song.
it should appear in the setlists' from that yr.

I know it was played at the First Ave. shows on 9-11,9-12-98 cause I have them on tape.

Early version's of songs often appear with working titles and quite often some differnet lyrics. (ie Wilco's Spider's was Kidsmoke and started out as Private Beach in Michigan.)

Save It For A Rainy Day was Pretty Little Hairdo for over a year. (imagine they named the record Pretty Little Hairdo)
Now the 3 or 4 new tunes we've heard this year, well, we're still waiting on 'offical titles' but the pattern is still the same.

My personel favorite is the early version's of "Queen of the World" where the singer is directing his emotions to a woman onstage, who left some lipstick on the microphone.

They also played it on the 31st Dec 98 opening for Soul Asylum in the State Theatre MNPLS,very strong song, even before the catchy chorus was added.

New Smog tune played at the Rock For Democracy benefit on July 18,2004

"Did I blow your mind?
Did I blow your mind again?
Did I blow your mind for the third time?
The dream is never over....(repeats to infinity)"

It may seem more like a Danny Murphy tune but nontheless I mention it here as a new song for this year.
Sorry if there was some confusion

And yeah the version from 12-31-98 was kickin'too
