Wow, that was very, very cool. Dave only comes out and talks to bands he really likes. He's said before that he likes their music, and he said it again. He really gave them a nice plug holding up the record. I think Gary is probably the only musician ever on the Letterman show who's as tall as Dave.

Yes, and I kind of notice that on the new record. I adore Gary's voice, and I wish it was more prominent on MBT. But he produced the record, so who knows.

I though Mark was a little high in the mix. They sang "Blue" afterward, which you can find the the show's website. Dave plugs them more.

Watched this with the wife last night. I know I'm turning into a troll here, but this is ridiculous.

Somebody tell Gary to turn his mic UP.

I'm glad someone put it up on YouTube.

Stupid WCCO in Minneapolis cut off Dave's intro and the beginning of the song.

Needless to say, band and management weren't too happy about this inept miscue by the CBS affiliate in the band's hometown. Very lame. I called the station as it happened and was told I wasn't the only one complaining.

Vocal mix was definitely off, and for this national TV performance, Mark should have a been little more careful with his vocal.

What sucks about the mix is that these guys have that cross-harmony, where the melody weaves between the two. It doesn't just mean Mark's vocals are too hot, but it flattens the melody and the song.

Even hubby chimed in "Why can't we hear Gary? Everything's better with more Gary. He's too good for us not to hear him."

It was still good to see them, and they looked GREAT!

I can hear Gary fine to be honest and it was a solid performance. It's still harmony but maybe we should let go of the 'univoice' ideal.

You could? Maybe it was just the way the sound was coming through the TV. Could that be why it seems a bit flat?

I'm really not trying to be an idealist - for my husband to make a comment, it has to be pretty noticable. But maybe what we noticed was the sound on our bedroom TV isn't that great.
