In the pub, after the show...

Fantastic gig in London last night, but I thought this deserved it's own thread: here's a pic from the Anglo-Irish-Dutch-American post-show pub summit!

From left to right, that's me, Calexico, JayB and Nutshell...

Ex-Dutch, thank you very much!

Great to hook up with you all last night... always a pleasure hanging out with Dan, great to see Cale and Mrs Cale again (once again, sorry to you guys for me being flakey and forgetting the phone your number was on and the one you texted! Useless!)... and to meet Nutshell! (Again! lol).

Superb gig... the band were on fire... the sound was a bit iffy in that shed, but it didn't manage to kill a superb gig...

I have no idea what the set list was (did anyone keep track??), but, much like Manchester and Glasgow, we got tons of Hollywood Town Hall, Tomorrow The Green Grass and a bunch of new tracks. Main set seemed to last about 1 hr and 15 minutes? Then about 4 encores... after which the lights came on... half the crowd left the venue... and then they came back for another 2!! I seem to remember they started playing while the house lights were still on...

Loved Tampa To Tulsa... amazing version of a great song...

I also thought the new songs were amazing live.

All in all a great night.

Well, technically, no... not so much... she wasn't ecstatic last night when we said it would end up on here... but I guess given the fact that: 1. she flew home today, and 2. the picture was on Dan's phone... she didn't have much choice.

Great to meet all the guys, pity it was so haphazard beforehand. Next time, and there will be a next time, it shall be organised much better.

(I will do it)

Good plan Cale!! Dan and I have been trying to organise a meet up with kids and all since his was born months ago (attempts have included the famous last words from Dan "lets not be men about and actually make this happen")... we should have known this pre-gig thing would go wrong.

Nice to see you and the missus though!

God, I do hate to see myself in pictures! I look awful....
Anyway it is a good record of a great time.

I'm FINALLY back home. I flew back to JFK Saturday morning, but I had to go out to the end of Long Island before I could get home. This is the first chance I've had to post

What an amazing show!! And great fun to meet up with fanpagers!
Went to the Assembly House beforehand, and looked around for Dan. Not there, but I saw a couple and they had a kind of 'waiting around' look to them, so I asked if they were going to the Jayhawks show, and yep, it was Cale and Mrs. Cale! Exciting! felt like I was meting a celebrity or something!
Cale is just like he is on the fanpage, only even nicer. And Sharon, his wife is lovely. Real pleasure to hang out with them. The others didn't show, so we went over to the venue.
We stood up front, close to the stage. God, I love standing room shows. Seated ones just are never as good.

Mark and Ingunn came out and played an opening set, they looked good, and smiled a lot at each other. Sweet to see.

Next, came the BAND!
My god, it sent chills down my back to see them ALL there. They sounded so good. They were tighter, and sounded better then when I saw them last in Philly. They just keep getting better! And can I say....KAREN! She adds so much.

With every song they played, I thought, how can they have all these fantastic songs?? Can someone post a set list for this show? New songs sounded good, but I have to hear them some more to really get to know them. She walks is always great, I tell you that should be a hit for them! Another new one was really good, but I don't know the name yet....

Everybody looked good, too. The fanpage guys won't post about this, but the women here will be happy when they go to the shows! Karen fans, too. Mark had to do part of a song without his guitar for a bit because of a technical problem, and it was funny to see him without it.

After the show, it was back to the pub with everyone, and we all chatted a bit. Great to see Dan, and Jay B (again! haha) and Christine etc. So nice meeting up with you all, and hanging out. Wish I knew other fanpagers were there, where were you all?

All in all, a great night!
