Darn. I was hoping to run into you at First Avenue this weekend.

I remember those 1995 shows. The heat was brutal at First Ave. At the in-store at Let It Be before the third show I asked why Victoria was at the first show and not the second, and Mark Olson said it was because her MS was made worse by the heat.

Yeah, my ears are on the small side so I bought the "Baby Blues." I tried them on and they don't seem too small.

I'm sure I'll see you at the Neil Young show, my friend!

I went the third night of those July 1995 shows, and it was super hot.

Have fun, everybody. Wish I were seeing these shows. With the Twitter request request, sounds like there could be some rarities and/or post-Olson songs played. A few days of rehearsal is better than none.

Rock on and get the load out!

what a frustrating weekend: I have a ticket for the in-store and can't go. Someone wanted to go to saturday show and now can't, after I made plans...
Sunday will visit HTH with Fisheye, LiladyK and whoever else wants to take pictures and whatever else we can think of out there, then drive back into town, eat some food downtown and do the same thing again on Monday.
Any of your downtowners have a suggestion of a good place to eat? I know about the Irish pubs, the Rock Bottom and Glueks but I wouldn't mind something a little more quiet...

Go to Solera, you don't have to spend much for a really nice experience.

dining suggestions

I like the Monte Carlo in the warehouse district. The dining room is kinda upscale with steak & chops menu, but dine in the bar or out on the patio for a more casual atmosphere. Can't say enough about the lavosh crust pizza with cilantro pesto and red peppers.

Plus, the last time we were there, Brian Setzer and his wife bought us a drink. (no kidding!)

I can't believe I have something to say about food in Minneapolis. The only time I was in Minneapolis, a few years ago, I ate at Solera and I was impressed and I'm quite particular and opinionated about food and drink. Their stuff was tasty and well done. I hope its still good. Small plate tapas seems like a good call before a show, you don't want to get too much food in your stomach because you'll never get a good alcohol buzz going afterwards!

The Jayhawks prepare for big weekend at First Avenue

It's an historic weekend for the Jayhawks, who are preparing to play four Twin Cities shows in a row with a lineup that has only played in the United States once in the last 15 years. On the heels of last summer's extraordinary reunion set at the Basilica Block Party, Jayhawks co-founders Mark Olson and Gary Louris are getting the band back together for a private in-store at the Electric Fetus tonight and three Mainroom shows at First Avenue Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

That article and associated pics were AWESOME. I got that story on my Blackberry this morning and it still has me smiling (even though I will be missing the Epic event).
