Mark Olson songs without Mark

I attended the Philly show and have a recording. I have been listening to it a lot. It is killing me listening to Live at the Women's Club Vol I and II without Mark's harmonies. I always thought I did not care for his voice, but now I know how essential it is. The song that really got be was Tim singing Clouds.

better roads with light on them

Yeah Timmy really hits that one

It's my favorite too, cause you can actually hear all the words, Tim really makes it his own. Women's Club is way better than any of the Louris/Olson Together Again gig's I've heard.

But then again I'm a big Timmy supporter
If Tim hadn't been there NYE Mark O. still wouldn't know all the words to Clouds.

All things considered I'm glad you like the Philly show, just don't underestimate the power or of Irish-men. Timmy's new album should be out and in stores soon, save the slaggin' till then if you can...

and for the record "Clouds" appears in setlists as far back as 1985 and it was then called "Clouds Accross The Sky" and even then lyrically, was slightly different. Since Mark O. left the band in '95 "Clouds" has remained a staple in almost every live show/tour, sung by Tim, it's taken on a new meaning and feel, maybe, but it is consistently been played well and remains a highlight of every show I've attended.

This is one of the few regular songs on set-lists I have never had the chance to see being played live.

Seriously, I was surprised at the difference I now notice without Mark. Women's Club use to be my favorite CD.

I agree. The Womens Club is still good, but it's missing something.

Olson has a timeless, cool voice that really ads alot to those songs. I think Tim does a good job on the Womens club, but it sounds more like the groom of a wedding joining in with the wedding band to sing a ballad for his bride.

That's largely because there really wasn't a show recorded to compete with the quality recording of the Womens Club. I would give the nod to the Iowa show in terms of most crystal quality, but also one of the most rough of the tour, which is OK by me.

If anyone has heard the 4-22-02 recording it comes close to perfection! The harmonies are great between Tim and Gary on that one. I just look at it as different...not better or worse. It's like a new version of a song. Anyhow, this is just my opinion, you have to listen for yourself.

I've been singing Poor Michaels Boat all wrong, thought it was "That won't surprise some few", guess it's "some of you".... oooops!

Ok, there are songs where Tim sounds great and really adds to the song, BUT ooooooohhhhhh i'd take Olson singing w/Louris ANYDAY. I mean, i've heard several people say that Tim sounds like Don Henley and i agree. To me, that is NOT a good thing. I mean, AT ALL.
