Also, I'm pretty sure Tweedy only called one song unlistenable (Less Than You Think). As for the funny noises and distortion, they're just embellishments, those may be different, but the songs themselves aren't a million miles away from what they've always done.
Fill me in on some (or all) of your favorites. I'm always looking for new quality stuff. Thanks.

I hate it when bands can't put a bit of effort in to the recording process to keep distortion at bay! Lazy work shy hippies... get a hair cut and a real job! And folk off with your distortion!!

All distortion does is let mediocre players think they're good by covering up their sloppy playing. Geeze, Neil Young would be bussing trays in nightclubs were it not for distortion...

Indeed! Even I feel like I'm playing like Slash when I turn the distortion up!

Before there was distortion, folk musicians covered up sloppy playing by using a 12-string guitar. People were amazed that 5 fingers could cover so many strings and "the poet game" was born...

Utter rubbish. How did this untruth start anyway? Can't a board moderator speak up & prove we're two different posters? Bring it on, I have absolutely nothing to hide. Have at it. We'll serve plenty of crow afterwards.

Yes, and your other names on the internet: Davenport Ranger, Styxlover, Freddie Mercury's Jock, BMWcrusher.
Everyone knows about you no matter what name you use.

That album is terrific and worth owning--and can be had for very cheap on amazon...
+2

I actually think Jay's albums have gotten weaker, still good, but maybe I haven't given the last couple more listens. Both Palace versions are great through and through.
