Here's a listing from Yahoo.com

http://dir.yahoo.com/Entertainment/Music/Charts/

I noticed when looking at some that you have to register and some you have to pay for just to get the info. Most, not all, are geared toward dj's and other people in the music industry (some asking for dj's or music directors to submit their music charts of music they played on the air...etc...)

I guess since they have have never recorded as Mark Olson & Gary Louris before they are considered a new artist.

They are also #9 on the Independent Album Chart.

He'd wish...no way he sold 50.000 copies. it was only 13k back in June and I cannot imagine more than tripling those sales in 6 months.

checking out the wikipedia entry, it appears that the heatseakers chart is reserved only for artists who have never had an album appear in the top 100 of the billboard charts. So this means RFTF has not made it into the top 100, which isn't the most promising of signs. Hopefully given time its sales will become much more reasonable. There seems to be a lot of people who are just now getting around to get the album, and I'm sure the touring will help considerably. I would hope that this album would surpass, or at least approach the 100k mark by the end of the year, but it's hard to tell. If Mark's Salvation Blues really sold 50k copies, I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see this happen.

Looking through Billboard's site a little bit.... RFTF is #127 overall, in the Billboard Top 200.

I'm sorry, I thought I had read somewhere that he was in the 30K's about a year ago. My bad, but, really, I hope you're the one that's wrong here.

It's kind of amazing to listen to that record, then to see what is being sold in the stores and what is selling in the thousands. It's amazing that such treachery is being passed off as popular music while nuggets such as this take years to gain popularity by word of mouth, by gifting, by someone buying them on a lark and discovering them, etc. I gave one to a very sheltered relative of mine and he said it was "too country". But he loves David Wilcox, so I told him if he loves David Wilcox, he needs to listen to this again. He's happy that he "complained" and now he owns the new one too.
One new fan at a time...

I just read an article that mentioned Village People having sold 80 million records worldwide.

It ain't fair.

Jackie, given the traffic Amazon has, that's pretty darn good news. I'm sure by now the record companies have already broken even on this, so it's gravy from here on out.
Wow, a West Coast tour is likely, for sure, but since nothing's been announced, I'm going to speculate that there's something else in the offing...
Re-issues, box set, a few one-off full band shows
tomorrow the green grass indeed!
maybe I shouldn't be spilling beans I don't know about...
