From The Onion....

Some of you might have seen this already, but I got a laugh out of this, even though it is so true....

Black Man Given Nation's Worst Job

WASHINGTON African-American man Barack Obama, 47, was given the
least-desirable job in the entire country Tuesday when he was elected
president of the United States of America. In his new high-stress,
low-reward position, Obama will be charged with such tasks as
completely overhauling the nation's broken-down economy, repairing the
crumbling infrastructure, and generally having to please more than 300
million Americans and cater to their every whim on a daily basis. As
part of his duties, the black man will have to spend four to eight
years cleaning up the messes other people left behind. The job comes
with such intense scrutiny and so certain a guarantee of failure that
only one other person even bothered applying for it. Said scholar and
activist Mark L. Denton, "It just goes to show you that, in this
country, a black man still can't catch a break."

luv the onion.

i thought their first issue after 9-11 was particularly ballsy, brilliant, sad, and funny all at once.

tho i must confess, nowadays i read more of the AV club than the onion proper.

Thanks Joyce, I needed that hilarity...
I have been teary-eyed all day watching the news, watching the joy, watching our country react. Trying to explain to my 8-year-old just how bad it still was barely a generation ago for people. Telling him about the lunch-counter sit-ins, and the freedom rides. How the police would beat the heck out of people just because they wanted to pay for a meal with money they worked hard to have in their hands. It's so bittersweet a chapter to have to remember, but the stories have to be passed on so we can truly appreciate the struggle to continue to be a freedom-loving country. They say Obama had 300 million more dollars to spend campaigning I can only think there was more than money that went into his, our victory.
