Off the Beaten Path 2012

well another year, another compilation, for those who follow such things, each year I put together a CD of non-top 40 tunes that deserve a wider audience, some of these will be well known to this group, some maybe not so much, here's hoping you find something worth your while:

Waiting for something: Nada Surf
Love interruption: Jack White
Simple song: Shins
Man on Fire: Edwin Sharpe and Magnetic Zeros
Alone: Trampled by Turtles
Anna sun: Walk the moon
Myth: Beach House
Sleeping Ute: Grizzly Bear
Under the westway: Blur
Madness: Muse
Trojans: Atlas Genius
1957: Milo Greene
Revolution: Dr. John

Frankly I don't get all the love given to Frank Ocean or Alabama Shakes, seem rather bland to me; like the Lumineers but they hit the big time....

Here's hoping for a great 2013!! (With some Jayhawks in one form or another making the list)

I cannot get with that Jack White stuff. The man just plain annoys the shit out of me.

Beach House and Grizzly bear were superb albums this year and that Blur track is a fitting way to put a full stop to their career.

Your namesake's tune 'Splitter' was also excellent and really should have been included.

"Emmylou" by First Aid Kit was my favorite song of 2012.
