Dutch connection

" 2 meter sessions" was the name of a programme in the 90s where bands came round in a studio and record some songs.
Mostly stripped down versions, although no always unplugged.
It's called 2 meters because the DJ who was hosting it, is about 2 metres long. It started of as radio but became a TV show which is still running.

There are several compilation cd's out there with different artists. A huge succes over here in Holland.

The Jayhawks recorded " Blue" and " I'd Run Away" in 1995 and they ended up as B-sides on the I'd Run Away single here in Europe. They are also in the TTGG bonus CD (orginal 1995 European release).

If you are interested in these beautiful versions (with Mark Olson), you should send me an email or pm. Maybe we can work something out.

The Jayhawks recorded lot of songs in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 2000. Check out http://www.2metersessies.nl/index.php and go to the "archief" Then fill in "Jayhawks" at the "zoeken" box.

I didn't know that they recorded so many songs. I will start hunting now.....

Damn, that's a lot of recording sessions!

I used to love watching 2 Meter Sessies on TV when I still lived in Holland, a brilliant way to get into good new music!!

I will let you know when I have a enough material for a good disc. Until then I put my trade-offers in the freezer. Have patience!

The “2 meter sessions" started out as a Dutch unplugged radio show hosted by DJ Jan-Douwe Kroeske. Later on it was also televised. The show was named “2 meter” because that is the height of the DJ.

The Jayhawks perfomed on four sessions in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 2000. Now for the first time, these hard to find sessions are compiled on this two-disc set. The songs are in order of the original setlist. Of all the sessions, only three songs are missing. Probably, they were never aired.

You may find different dates for the same recordings circulating. This is mostly caused by the difference in recording- and airing dates.

That made me laugh hard for some reason. Seems such an aribtrary reason to name a show but I suppose it sounds better than 5 Foot 7.
