Songs So Touching That They Can Make a Grown Man Cry

"Trespasses" by Patti Smith. Funny...I don't lose it until the "joyfully whistling" part.

An obvious choice for me but Warren Zevon's Keep Me In Your Heart For A While.

This planet needs Warren in it,now more than ever.

Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World

Odd choice? Perhaps, but the whole bit with the mother doing drugs and the kid being abandoned gets me every time. That's one more kid that'll never fall in love....

We Belong Together by Rickie Lee Jones. Very personal for me, as the lyrics - except for the hook - are fairly obtuse. A lovely song nonetheless.

Kilkelly-Peter Jones

Millions of Irish emigrated to the USA. This song is based on letters from members of a family that traveled from one shore to the other. I love it sang by Mick Moloney, Robbie O´Connell, and Jimmy Keane.

Not a song right now, but I got all teary-eyed just yesterday reading "Conversations with Tom Petty" when he talks about how much it meant for him and the Heartbreakers to work with Johnny Cash and what a genuine and cool man Johnny was. Specially when he tells about the night Carl Perkins showed up in the studio and they had "the best night of their lives", just playing all night, listening to old time stories told by Johnny, Carl and June, telling jokes... I just love that bunch!
