Sorta

Hey guys! I've got a band I'd like you to hear and offer opinions on. Why?

A. They're really good friends of mine.

B. I honestly feel that they're stunning, both musically and lyrically.

They're offering their ENTIRE new CD's worth of songs for FREE on their Myspace site . Today is the last day you can download the first four songs, and the next four go up tomorrow, with the final four posted on March 1st.

Also on the band's regular website there's quite a few more downloadable songs from some of their other CDs. Enjoy!

I think a lot of you will agree with me that this is a really good band.

Let the amatuer pundits now heat up their typing fingers!

Follow this man's advice immediately. Really good band, should appeal to Jayhawks fans. To quote a very wise man, "if you don't like Sorta, you're just stupid."

OK Twin Cities residents, and I'm guessing there are several of you on this board , my friends Sorta are playing at the 400 Bar in Minneapolis tomorrow night, so if you haven't made any plans, try to go out and see them, they're really good! There are three bands on the bill, so I would have to imagine that they would go on first, and I don't know what time things get started up there. The other two bands - Moonmaan and Julie Puppets - sounded pretty good from what I could gather off the interweb, and it's a CD release gig for the latter. But get there early and here Sorta and report back via the board. I love to hear your opinions. And if you go, tell 'em Alan Levy sent ya!

Cheers!!

The final four songs from Sorta's Strange and Sad But True have been posted for download on their MySpace page.

And the guys want to thank anyone reading this who caught them on their mini-tour during the last 10 days, whether at the 400 in Minneapolis, or Vaudville in Des Moines, Davey's in KC or the Replay in Lawrence.

Oh, and it seems like there are a few Dylan fans on here, so here's a YouSendIt link for the first 25 of you that would like to hear Sorta's unreleased cover of Bob Dylan's "New Morning." Enjoy!

one of the members, danny, works at a sports-talk am radio station in dallas, texas - ktck, the ticket. i listen to them sometimes.

he's a producer on an afternoon drive time show, which is sometimes unbelievably funny (dare i say genius?). he's a typical musician in that it's a beating to hear him discuss other bands but he's a big part of the show and he's pretty funny and i hear his band is quite good. (never seen them.)

he had nothing but nice things to say about the good folks of minnesota.

peace

I put all the tracks in order and burned them to cd and I must say it is a decent album. Only had the one listen but will get it going again today. Nice job guys and thanks Alan for the heads up.
