Those $$$ seats are for Charity

That's a one shot, one time deal......JEEZE!

All the other shows everywhere else are $50-$80 range.

Lots of money yes, BUT...in line with most other summer events of the like.

Lets also add, he just did 4 shows - 100% charity in Asbury Park and is donating his performance fee in New Orleans to Katrina relief as well. His performance at the N.O. Jazz Fest will be webcast tomorrow around 5:00

Google New Orleans Jazz Fest and you'll see where and how to listen.

That's a cheap shot. Say what you want about the guy, but calling him greedy or irresponsible is wrong.

I read he pretended to be retarded to fail the exam

I paid 74 for my ticket, being 65 the real price and those 9 extra for what I think I could translate as managment expenses, which basically means printing the ticket. That makes me angry too.

Do you actually think Bruce sets the price for tickets? Artists are so far removed from the "business side" of things, that it's sad.

What HE does, is try and think of new ways to keep tichets out of the hands of scalpers. Last tour the person buying the tickets had to be the one to show up at the box office the evening of the show.

Like I said, it's not out of line with other major tours. Last year the Rolling Stones were charging $450 for the first floor sections at EVERY SHOW.

As for live albums....I like very few of them and regularly play even less of them.

Amen on that and a big PLUS post ( + ).
Oops, the plus sign in brackets looks like a butt...

Ok, anyway, Bruce failed his physical, that's too funny.
Ted Nugent passed his, then he proceeded to go Number 1 AND number 2 in his pants without changing and they decided he was mentally unfit to serrve. Now Ted goes to Iraq to sing for the troops--geez, 180-degree turn, eh, Ted?

Bruce yelled "Bring 'em home!" at the end of his Grammy's performance, and that was cool in this age of against-the-war-but-scared-to-speak-out cynicism in America...

In fairness, the Ticketbastard site now has just the one price of $92. The wife and I still can't go as it is out of our price range - especially after Ticketbastard whack their cut on to it - so I guess I will buy a lottery ticket and hope for the best. A damned shame, as I bet these would be stellar shows to see.

As for other artists, world-renowned socialist Roger Waters has his tix for the same venue on an AUCTION basis and they START at $150. It just makes me shake my head.

Ticketbastard? Are they any relation to TICKETGANGSTA?

Springsteen is outta my price range too. But it's not something he can even control, just ask Pearl Jam...
If you make a fuss or take a stand in this country, all you earn is respect, and when was the last time respect paid the rent?
The Boss does a lot of charity work and donations, etc. for the down-pressed, but he can't escape the circus of leeches that run the music business unless he's willing to become the laughing stock for taking a strong position against the Jabba-the-Huts of the world.
The Empire is indeed striking back, but there's a train a comin'...

Yeah, that's a hell of a lot worse than Springsteen's prices. Bruce's tickets are expensive, but I think still in line (or under) with what others at his level charge. Water's auctioning of tickets is absolutely disgraceful! The wanker!!

Let's look at it this way too!

Last year's Devils and Dust tour ticket prices were around $75 and after TicketNazis extracted their pound of flesh it was over $100. That was for a solo tour!

Now, the ticket prices are relatively the same, and Bruce is paying a TWENTY - count em - twenty piece band!

Let's do some math. Let's say the tickets , for ease of calculation, are $100 before service charges etc.

First, the booking agent and promoter gets their cut - and keep in mind the promoter has to pay for hall rental, INSURANCE (which is huge), hall workers including security, concessions and gaffers/riggers. This could conceivably cut into 40% or more of the gate. Once again, for calculations sake, let's leave it at 40.

That means that 60% is going to Bruce and the band. Now I'm not gonna pretend to believe that Bruce is gonna take an equal share of the $60. People aren't coming to see Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg's Seeger Sessions Band feat. Bruce Springsteen, after all. But nor do I feel like Bruce is greedy. Let's say Bruce commands a third of the remaining $60. That means that you actually just paid Bruce $20 to play for you, and you also just threw in $2 for each of the other band members.

He's playing some pretty big arenas on this tour. Let's say he averages 15,000 at each stop. That mean's Bruce would make $300K per stop, and each band member $30K per stop. There are 27 shows, so Bruce'll take $8.91M (remember he's married to a band member, which begs the question - does Patti get a band share or is she content with Bruce $$ ). Actually less than that, since the Euros extract their taxes before you leave the country. Each band member slides with a mere $810K for two months of work! But not the Stones or McCartney type money, and I don't know what Madonna is getting across the sea, but here in the States, it's $350 a ticket, kids!
