Golden Smog debut album to be reissued on vinyl.

Run Out Groove Vinyl has announced that they will be reissuing the Golden Smog debut album, Down By The Old Mainstream on limited, numbered vinyl. Vinyl manufacturing and packaging will be very high quality.

The album is available for pre-order now through March 8. After the pre-order closes, the only way to purchase a copy will be via participating music retailers while supplies last.

To pre-order go to: http://runoutgroovevinyl.com/down-by...tream-2lp.html

How About Weird Tales

I don't think this classic Smogasboard album ever has seen a done right vinyl treatment. Any chance this might be in the works some day?

Ryko reissued this album on vinyl in 2010. What are the differences in the two editions?

There are no track differences but this is a better pressing and the packaging is also first-rate. And, like all ROG releases, there will only be one pressing, limited to the number of pre-orders.

The 2010 Ryko release was actually the first vinyl release for DBTOM and is long out of print (it never came out on vinyl for it's original release in 1996). The cheapest I've seen on the used market lately for the Ryko version is $60 and sealed copies go for well over $100.

Thanks! I own the Ryko release. Need to think now if it is worth to buy this new improved edition.

That depends on the level of your fandom ie obsession ie sickness.

As I've mentioned previously, the quality of those Run Out Groove Vinyl releases is top notch, from the vinyl to the packaging. I've seen several of them and have been very impressed. The numbering thing is obviously a gimmick but in this case the release is truly limited. Having said that, I know how crazy it can be with reissues coming out almost as fast as new releases. For those who don't own the Ryko version, it's a no brainer to me, especially for an album like this that is a genuine classic.
