Waiting For The Sun = Stairway To Heaven?

This made me laugh in the comments under the Waiting For Sun video on YouTube:

Does anybody else notice the similarities between this song and Stairway to Heaven? Listen to the solo.

It's funny that is DOES resemble it in a very basic way...

I have always felt these solos were related, and in some live versions of WFTS I think it's been deliberately played up. But maybe that's just my imagination.

No way is that just your imagination. Some of the shows I am hearing from the 1997 tour are the best examples of Gary doing this.

Hmmm... I doesn't has any of said shows. I do have a Zappa cover of Stairway where he wrote the Jimmy Page solo out for his horn section to play, but the Louris connections sounds more interesting, to be honest.

Zappa's version was terrific. I had the 12 inch single backed with his version of Bolero which was amazing. Sadly, Ravel's family objected and the tune was withdrawn. A real shame.

The first part of the solo is pretty much the same as the Stairway solo, and the songs have the same chords.
