Jayhawks in New York City
Based on the "news" section of this website, looks like the boys will be back in NYC doing some TV. Any one hear of any news, rumors, suggestions that the Jayhawks will be playing live somewhere around town around then? We can only hope.

TV Appearances
08/02/03 > CBS The Saturday Early Show
08/05/03 > Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC)

Here is some information on seeing Conan's show, although it may be a little out of date:

Conan Tickets

However, I think that sometimes the band gets a block of tickets that perhaps can be held for fans. Not sure on this one, but I do remember seeing a band there once and I was, quite easily, able to get tickets the morning of the show.

Yea, I called NBC this a.m. and it appears all tickets through November have already be distributed. There's a standby process, but that's no guarantee... Hope they go live.

I just did what I did the last time they played a tv show (Letterman), and hunted around at local venues for 'Hawks-friendly artists that the guys might check out or join onstage. (I doubt there will be any NYC Jayhawks shows added.)

Found two interesting things, though neither will happen (but if they did, as John Your Pal would say, they might be interesting):

First, coincidentally, the band Smog -- NO, NOT GOLDEN SMOG -- is playing the Bowery Ballroom on 8/2.

Better yet, on 8/5 the Yardbirds -- now reformed, but without Clapton, Beck, or Page -- are playing Maxwell's in Hoboken.

Wouldn't it be a kick to see Gary play that fuzzy lead on "Heart Full of Soul"!? I'd love to see that. Not going to happen, but cool. Anyway, if takemewithyou gets any inside scoop on a show, secret or not, I like to think she'd tip us NYC locals off...

No Clapton, Beck or Page, huh? Reformation vs. reunion. The first is usually a letdown, the second takes you as high as you can get. Is that reformation really any good, or do you know something that I don't know?

Nope, I don't think it's worth the price of admission, and didn't mean to imply that it was.

Some of the original 'birds and some of the replacements reformed, as you put it, and -- of all things -- re-recorded their greatest hits. The draw with this is supposed to be that Brian May, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Slash "guest" on the tracks filling in for the big guns who are missing. (I actually thing they got Beck back for one track, too, and some of Poco.)

All well and good, and it might be fun to hear some of that stuff... but I don't think any of the guest stars are on tour with the Yardbirds now.

No Keith Relf either. If they got him, now THAT would be a reunion!

Conan txts
I live in NJ and have tried to get Conan txts, as I did with
Letterman with NO ANSWER on the line. Does anyone have
any ins with the show. Even though its tax time and I'm a
Collector, I'll call in sick just to go. Please, anyone.

At least I got in to a Letterman show one time. The band
was Green Day. It could have been worse. But why can't
you pick a show you want to see with a band you want
to see. Why do they have to give you whatever comes up.

It would be too cool to have a room full of fans of the band
that is playing instead of some disinterested people, who
would say, "Who are the Jayhawks?".
