howdy, fanpagers.

There's a band that I really like, Glossary, who are releasing their brand new
album, "The Better Nature of Our Angels", as a FREE download from their
website, starting today. Anyway, I'm sure there's at least a couple people on
this board who will probably like it, so please go grab it and check it out. And
if you like what you hear, please spread the word.

download it here:

Here's a You-Tube of a Son Volt-type of song--mellow !

BTW, if anyone tried earlier and couldn't get on, their site is back up now...

also, if you'd rather have a real CD to hold in your hands, that will be available
on October 23rd.

They don't tour much, but I've seen them in Minneapolis several times over the
years, usually as an opening act. Once at the 400 Bar, when that show started, it was only myself, the band, and the bar staff in the place. Some more people showed up later, but it was a disappointing turnout. So if you local types like this, and like seeing a quality live show, make sure you catch them the next time they're in town!

There are reports of a mega tour with The Drams, Two Cow Garage, and Grand Champeen happening later this year.

I've only got one Glossary tune on a mix CD ('When Easy Street Gets Hard To Find'), but I absolutely love it, and I've been meaning for a while to pick up some more. And now I have!

I'm gonna check them out, if only for this great story they tell in a blog on their myspace:

"I should also mention that we got pulled over when we were trying to find our host's abode - Bingham almost ran through a stoplight (halfway through the intersection) while a cop was stopped at the other side. After the usual "whatcha doin, been drinkin'?" stuff he informed us that our plates were expired (news to us) and went back to the car to chat with his partner. When he came back, he said (no shit) "Anybody with a 'God Bless Johnny Cash' sticker deserves a break tonight" and proceeded to give us directions to where we were going. How's that for MO hospitality? There's some good ones out there, people."

Aye, it is pretty damn catchy stuff for sure.

It's good stuff! I read an interview with Glossary the other day, about giving the album away. They said that they make hardly any money on CD sales anyway, and it was much more important to get their music out there and heard so that people come to see them live. From huge acts like Radiohead to little indie acts like Glossary, it seems this really is the way the industry is going...
