So what is the deal with the Live album.

Holy shit...Cale, Emmy and I just dropped 100 posts a piece.

Any news on the Live Album?

Lenno

Thank you Musky! What if we made our own live album? Lots of quality shows around? Now who has the need to practice the art of wasting hours to put it together?

Bryn
07-14-2005, 05:34 AM
Now that would be a long way from wasting hours Lenno. What a freaking great idea!! There must be a few good folks like yourself and LiladyK who would have some great live stuff that could be edited together to produce the ultimate "live" album. ;)

I guess the legalities would be a mine field but:D

I even started to make a list of possible songs but stopped when I got to 1991 already. It seemed a huge job even if I did just for me as a compilation. The legal stuff...I don't even want to think about that.

I notice there are currently no Willie Nelson cds on hold. Lost Highway every two weeks or so informs me of a new Nelson release despite the fact that I signed on for Jayhawks news and not Nelson.

poorlittlefish
07-19-2005, 07:51 PM
There aren't any CDs on hold over at Lost Highway except for the Jayhawks CDs. And I agree, Pierre, I too am sick of getting Willie and Ryan emails that I did not sign up for! It's really aggrevating.

Lost Highway has contacted me about the dead cats too. Although they did say that one did make it alive, and then gave birth to 2 small lizards!! I said "Oh my God", and the guy said "Yeah, tell me about it." He suggested not sending any more cats. I said "How 'bout a few dogs or rats?" He said "I'd rather not have any animals sent to us, but if you must, try sending a rabbit or a hamster." I said "Ok, I'll pass that on." So there ya go....

Still no mention on the 2 albums though.... :eek:

From The Guinness Book of Records:

Fastest Concert Recording To Release

The fastest time between the recording of a live concert performance and its release for digital download sale is 44 min and 39 sec for "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" performed by Sir Paul McCartney (UK) and U2 (Ireland), and organised by Universal Music Group International, eLabs and on behalf of Live 8 on 2 July 2005.

Unfortunately for Lost Highway they don't have a record for longest amount of time from recording to release.

?? Why's that? Rick expecting some big money from these??
I think that if the Jayhawks don't wanna support the live album with a tour, there'll be no release of a Live Album. What would be the market for that??

JoMama
04-21-2006, 07:58 AM
I thought Drackolias was the big 'hawker at Rubin's label... Anyway, some labels will issue things without a tour, and some often do to keep interest in the band up, especially if they still have the individuals signed for solo or new band projects. All that has to come into play for the label folks.
As far as Rubin goes, I guess I don't know the story of just who has the rights to Bunkhouse, since Rubin hinted at releasing it before Lost Highway came into the picture.
I guess I'll just keep listening to Johnny Cash's "Unchained" and imagine the Jayhawks on it (the original choice of backing band, right?).

goody59
04-24-2006, 08:17 PM
My point mainly being Lost Plotway has no incentive to do anything since the band is on hiatus and Rubin's deal is up. Warner cant possibly treat them any worse.

Ok you post whores, I'm a gonna drop some posts all in one because this thread makes me thinkt there should be an "IM" attachment to this site so ya's can talk "live" to each other...
"Live" now that reminds me of a couple of things...
Ok, for starters, the LOURIS/OLSON live CD from the two tours seems to be more than just a rumour, but where does that fit in with the items on the backburner? We still have a Remastered Bunkhouse album to see the light of day, the legendary-by-now Lost Highway LIVE Jayhawks set that probably will suck anyway compared to the two Womyn's Club sets, save for the inclusion of live material from the Mark Olson days...
Speaking of multiple WILLIE NELSON issues on LOST HIGHWAY, they are doing the same thing Columbia did when they got stuck with Willie in the 70's: If you can't sell enough of one title, put out more titles, EVENTUALLY one will gain notoriety enough to pay off all the ones with sluggish sales, and even inspire more sales of those ones...
WILLIE'S GANJA album: I bought it because I was impressed Willie could put a marijauna-leafed-album cover on the shelves at WalMart and Target... The music sounded like Willie gave up the weed too soon... He should have hired Sly and Robbie to produce so it made him look the hero for doing so little, eh Bob Dylan?...
When the American faux-christian police state that BushCo have hinted at comes to be, the Willie CD will be on the black market even though it's pretty week, like Minnesota ditch weed...

All this LOST HIGHWAY money tied up in Willie's fantasy to die a million dollars in debt is why there's no LIVE Jayhawks album. I'm sure arm-wrestling with Rick Rubin's AMERICAN label has a little to do with it too, as he's in posession of the remastered Bunkhouse, last I heard...
Who's the losers here? The fans, as usual.
When LOST HIGHWAY folds in on itself there will be a big loss felt thoughout this and other websites. They should have jumped on the DIXIE CHICKS' wagon a couple of years ago when the venomous rightie whackos were so freaked out they paid off the radio stations to boycott them.
Look at the money LH would have made on the newest Chicks album--enough to release the cream of the crop sitting in their vaults.
We need to wake them up...

Ok so the problem with the issuing of the live record has something related to the Gary and Mark album now? Is someone gonna hold that carrot out to the boys, or do they actually have to SHOP this record? Shouldn't be tough, I mean, what A & R person hasn't heard the Jayhawks or anything similar? If not, what are they doing in A & R ? Now there's the ten-thousand-dollar Run Westy Run question of the week...
