Sweet! i am jealous.. it's basically almost a new years show!
I recall hearing about when Gary and Karen and Tim (I think), joined Mark Olson around new years in 2004 or so...

Hello all you old-time fanpagers!
I'm no good at writing reviews, it's not my thing. So I'm not going to try, but I will make a couple of observations.
The band sounded amazing! The place was packed. I've been in First Ave enough times to know that there are sold-out shows and then there are SOLD OUT SHOWS. This was over-full. I really think the new album and the Current's airplay of it brought in new and renewed fans. We were on the balcony at the rail so we could see then entire floor. EVERYONE was engaged, all the way to the back of the house. Usually people by the bars and in the back are talking and not really paying attention, but the band had everyone face-front, singing along, dancing, transfixed.
From Gary's first solo on WFTS to dueling Gary/Marc solos (imagine that!) during Bad Time, it was a first-rate Jayhawks experience. I can't even feel bad about any favorites that they did not play. At one point Gary chatted up the crowd, saying something like "I love this, it's is like therapy for me. I hope it is for you too." What I have to say in return is yes, Gary, Jayhawks show are always like therapy for me.
I'm still feeling happy today. :):):)

Sounds like a wonderful way to finish off 2016, and hopefully towards a great 2017. Honestly, since the band came back in 2014, they have been on the top of their game and I sense that better days still lie ahead!
Happy New Year all!

Loved the show. My wife and I were in the front row, pretty much right below Gary. It's so much better being in that front row where there's a little elevated separator on the floor. That way you can't get bumped into or pushed around. Our worst First Ave experience was several years ago at a Jayhawks show. We didn't get there super early that time and we ended up back by the sound guy. We were sandwiched from the left, right, front and back. So annoying. Learned our lesson. Get there early and get the front row! Anyway, it was a lot of fun. I think I recognized one fan from his avatar picture. He was also in the front row, closer to Karen.

My only nitpick. I'm always gonna have one, I suppose. Would have been nice to hear more than two songs from Smile. Was ready for some Queen of the World or Somewhere in Ohio. Or better yet, my personal favorite, Life Floats By.
