They rebuilt the Vredenburg concert hall recently and I have to say that the result is quite stunning. The old main hall where I saw The Stones in 2003 with 1716 other people is still there, but it's got 4 other venues as well, in 1 building, and they call it music city.
The Jayhawks played the Pandora at the 6th (!) floor of the building and it was a sell out with 625 people. Karl Blau opened at 19.45h and after his 45 minutes set the stage was made ready for The Jayhawks who came up at 21.00h. First time I saw Gary with short hair, but apart from that, his singing and playing is still the same. According to Gary they were here tonight 'to make sure that Holland will love us again' or something like that. I have to say that this show was not as rough as their 1997 show, but I liked it a lot, in fact they were great. They nailed every song. Amazing sound at the Pandora, to which Gary added compliments to their Dutch soundman. All in all a great evening and knowing they'd be playing Antwerp the next day, which for me is only a 1 hour drive, I tried to get a ticket for that show as well but was unlucky unfortunately.
