very interesting how he says in this article that he didn't like the last album. When it was out he said great things about it.. i wonder when his opinion changed? you'd think he would have at least liked some of it when it came out....

That's definitely the strongest statement I've seen:
"I felt burned out after that last time, and I did not like that record at all," he says. "It takes away from our catalogue."
In the Current interview with PD, he touches on the issue, but is definitely not that blatant about it.
Let's see what he says in a year or five ;)

Wow. I'm quite surprised to hear Gary's reaction to MT. At the time it came out he called it their best record to date. Hindsight is 40/20 I guess.

hmm maybe he didn't feel as inspired or the whole process wasn't that smooth in making it? maybe there was more pressure from the label or other external sources?
I dunno, I still like it but don't love it as much as the others....
