Travelled up from Halifax to see the show last night, and had a great time.
Grand Drive, who are a very underrated band, played a strong opening set, before the Jayahwks hit the stage. The show was fast paced, and well balanced with songs from HTH. TTGG, SOL Smile and 8 from Rainy Day Music. No covers, Smog songs or songs from Blue Earth, but it didn't matter one jot.

The vocals were strong tonight, with Tim's harmonies sounding rich and solid. Stephen McCarthy once again offered strong support to Gary on guitar and pedal steel, while Marc looked happier than I've seen him in a while.

Anyways, I cannot wait for tonights show in Manchester.

I cannot recall the setlist order off the top of my head but they played:
from HTH:
Waiting For the sun
Sister Cry
Take me with you (when you go)
Settled down like rain

From TTGG:
I'd run away
Two Hearts
(Nothing left to borrow was on the setlist as a possible encore but not played)

From SOL:
Big Star
Bottomless Cup

From Smile:
I'm gonna make you love me
What led me to this town
A Break in the clouds
Life floats by

From Rainy Day Music
Stumbling through the dark
Save it for a rainy day
All the right reasons
Tampa to Tulsa
Don't let the world get in your way
Eyes of Sarah Jane

i thought the show was generally ok, but i thought guitars were slightly too loud which knocked out the vocals. I thought Gary was rather miserable and left with a strange exit. Still a big fan will see them again no doubt.
Glasgow renfrew ferry was far superior.
I live just north of newcastle by the way.

Guitars too loud! I don't think so.

I didn't think the guitars were too loud either.

Gary's exit was repeated in Manchester and I think has become almost traditional for him.
